A friend has a international 966 that the power steering and torque amplifier dont work but brakes and hydraulic remotes seem to work fine. Has tried over filling the reservoir with hytran and filters have been replaced recently. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Well IF the brakes do actually work and NOT just the check valves doing there job of holding fluid so that you still have SOME braking affect then with out being able to see the tractor myself we are all guessing . If you really do have power assist braking then the problem will be in the flow divider due to sticking due to crud , broken spring. But here again this is a guess . we don't know the whole story of how and when this happened , did this happen after a fluid or a filter change?? is it just air locked ?? is the MCV pump gone to lunch ?? . At times i feel like a service manager at a car dealership talking to a woman about her car problems . Or my daughters calling me asking what's wrong with there car with one being a 100 miles away and the other 240 miles away and soon to be 2700 miles away and NO i am NOT making a service call.
Services calls are now limited to thirty miles .
 
I get what your saying. Im also only relaying whats told to me.you know how the story changes as it is passed down. But i do appreciate the help.
