Farmall A weight?

Hello,
Looking on line I found weights for the 1940 Farmall A as 2400 to 3450 pounds. In the Serviceman's Manual I just got today, it says shipping weight 1560 and with all liquid tanks full 1690. Mine has front and rear wheel weights. I could get a trailer that allows for 2090 cargo capacity. Has anyone ever weighed their tractor and can give me a better idea? Thanks! Please no need to debate about trailers and axles I posted about that a few weeks ago and got all very good points.

I should actually make it more clear... I have the opportunity to get a used trailer that is rated at 2090 capacity.

tractor data says 2400 to _______. get a heavier trailer.
i am thinking that a farmall cub weighs about the number you stated.

Sounds like a single axle trailer. Is that the axle, or trailer capacity? A trailer that light probably has a light frame. The weight of the tractor will be outside of the axle, and also put a strain on the tounge.

Find a dual axle. You?ll be far happier, and safer.

According to the Nebraska test report the Farmall A had a test weight of 3570 lbs including the operator and a total added ballast of 1556 lbs. Assuming a 170 lb operator means the bare tractor weighed around 1850 lbs. With front and rear weights your tractor would weigh somewhere around 2250 lbs.

I second the advice to get a double axle trailer, and I would add a full sized truck or SUV. It doesn't need a 400hp V8, a V6 or L6 will do just fine.

I towed a Fcub to a remote property for a couple years with a single axle and I never felt confident with that setup.

I was just at 2 tractor pulls over the last two weeks and I couldn't get to see the weights on the few As that were there. I just don't get how 1560 more than doubles from one source to the next.
