object in gas tank

I have a small piece of something in the gas tank of my M. It is about 1/4 inch wide and 2 inches long and looks like a small piece of inner tube. I can see it with a flash light, usually near the gas line input. Twice this summer it has gotten across the gas line input and the tractor runs out of gas. I use a coat hanger to move it and all is good. Any ideas on how to get it out without removing the gas tank? Gas tank is very clean otherwise. Ellis

You need one or those tools that looks like a manual choke cable. Button on end you push with thumb, small claw comes out on end. Couple bucks at hardware store. I grabbed a old cap out my m tank with one. Priceless when needed.

I have grabbed stuff using a couple of sticks to act as pliers - kind of like using chop sticks in a Chinese restaurant.

You need one of those grab tools. The one I have hangs on the living room wall of my house so I can find it when I need it plus it works well to pick up things off the floor which gets harder to do as I get older LOL. The one I have is about 2 foot long and has a 4 finger grab end. Works well for picking up things like that in a gas tank
