farmall super H carburetor

I have a super H with a Zenith carburetor it has always run and started really will. This past summer when using it would not rev up when throttle pulled back. eventually died and would not start. Gas was leaking out of where air breather hose connects leaking gas. I bougbt a rebuilt kit and cleaned carb seemed to run and be fine went out to use to rake hay and I am leaking gas again. Anyone have an issue like this not sure what to do with it. I use to turn the fas off but shut off on sediment bulb started leaking any input or ideas

The needle and seat are not sealing. Could be: the float is leaking and not floating, the float could be rubbing on the side of the fuel bowl, the pin came out of the float pivot, the float is set too high; the needle and seat may be grooved, crap stuck in the needle/seat..........Take the carb apart and look. If tightening the packing nuts wont solve the leaks, you may need to simply replace the fuel bowl.Take the bowl assembly apart first and look. May just be some crap stuck,or it could be grooved and simply worn out. You could even eliminate the fuel/sediment bowl and go with a small ball valve and filter assembly.Tractor pullers do that, pretty much solves leaks and is easy to just flip the handle a quarter turn to off/on.

I had the carb off my Cub a couple of weeks ago just to get it out of the way for checking valves and when I put it back on it wouldn't stop leaking. I suspected something got onto the needle valve so I took off the fuel line, pulled the drain plug and blew an air hose through it. I got lucky and it fixed the problem. You have had yours apart so it could be something else beside junk under the needle valve. I'd make sure the float isn't rubbing the sides of the carb and doesn't have a leak in it. If you take it apart shake the float and see if you hear liquid sloshing in it. Did you check your float height when you put it back together. If that is wrong it can leak.

Well first off myself i have never seen a Zenith carb on a Super H , but any way here are some things to look for to start with , Do you have the filter screen in the sediment bowl ?? if you do not then get one and install it as you are more then likely getting dirt coming into the needle and seat and causing it to not fully seat and allow it to let unwantd gas pass . , next check and make sure that your float is not hanging on the side of the float bowl and restricting it's movement, next look at the float it's self , does it have any gas inside due to a crack in the solder ?? , is the float clean and shinny ?? if the float has build up of o0ld gas and or rust as i have been seeing lately on carbs hat have been coming in for rebuild this adds weight to them and causes them to set lower even when your dry set is correct . Back in the hay day of the carb we always weighed each float and compaired the weights of said float to the chart and any float that did not meet spec.'s was replaced of cleaned to get it into spec.'s floats that had cracked a seam were cleaned and resoldered and checked for weight and need be buffed to get them into spec.'s Now finding the correct float weight spec.'s might be a problem to day and finding a float weigh scale might be and other problem . You can do a WET check ofg fluid level with a barbed fitting that will fit the carb drain plug and a piece of clear plastic fuel linen sorta like a water level , line needs to be ;ong enought to gop above the top of the fuel tank and held next to the carb float bowl.
