birthday for farmall h

1946 "H" production serial number range shows up as 214820 through 241142, putting yours somewhere in the middle of that year's production run, the way it looks to me.
 
I am only 4 years older than the tractor. No wonder it doesn't have any get up and go. I am working on the carburetor now. Will probably have new questions.

Looking at the production sheets, I think Farmall H Tractor FBH 224150 was made on 1st July 1946 and FBH 227290 was made on 1st August 1946.

Where did you look on this site? If you use the "Serial Number" heading in the columns at the left it shows up (as others have said) as a 1946.
 
I have a copy of the monthly serial number reports for various IHC Tractors. Not sure if that information is on this website.

That pretty much covers it. I think it is amazing a tractor like that is still around and doing a days work.
 
My chart shows it as a 1946.

I show the starting number for 1946 to be 214820 and for 1947 to be 241143.

The serial number charts list the FIRST serial number for a particular year. Each tractor has a unique serial number when it is built. You most likely won't see an exact match on the serial list unless you are very lucky and just happened to end up with the first tractor made in a particular year.

So if your tractor's serial number is somewhere between the first number of one year, and the first number of the next year, it was built during the first of the two years.
