Farmall 300 steering shaft

Trying to figure out the steering shaft on my Farmall 300. The tractor has the 350 style hydraulic tower and shaft (spline steering wheel not the keyed). Is there a spacer that is supposed to be between the steering wheel and the tower? Right now the upper shaft will slide down far enough that the lower shaft will protrude through the u-joint and hit the body of the u-joint. The coupling between the u-joint and lower shaft is worn out and loose so I will be building it up to remove the play.

Don't know if or if not on the bushing. But my 400 had the same issue. I put a shim/washer between the wheel and support. It helped it a lot.However,shouldn't there be a set screw on the yoke?

No set screw. Just the bolt to tighten the clamp. But the shaft is worn to the point it is useless.
