f20 looking to restore but have issue with color.

Have a F20 serial number FA5493. Lists as 1934, but cannot find a spot of gray on it, only red. Even the serial number plate is red background with white letters. Any thoughts?

After 84 years how many repaint jobs do you think it has had? If I was going to get my tractor repainted I probably would make it look like a newer model if I was going to paint it. Also I believe I have read that IHC had a program where trade ins were dealer rebuilt and repainted red and came with a warrantee as remanufactured.

I would paint it its original color if i were restoring it for me. I love the grey f20’s. One of these days ill have one of my own.

I believe original tags had black backgrounds. Yours looks like it has been sprayed red, at
some time.

Are you trying to stay factory? If you're
not then paint it whatever color you like.

The F20's from first one to the middle 1936 they were painted a blue gray and in November 1 1936 they went to red. Like said you tractor
may have been painted several times and may have been at some time striped back to bare metal and painted red.
