hello every one, new to the forum. i recently picked up a ih b414, thing would hardly run when i went and looked at it ended up having to come along it onto trailer. but did see it run and see the hydraulics worked. got it home filed and adjusted points and drove it off trailer ran decent but had no power in high range. did more digging and found it had a blown head gasket between cylinder 2 and 3. replaced that along with a new coil and tractor runs great no smoke no knocking. worked it for 3 hours yesturday cutting ditches and i have found a problem i believe. oil pressure goes from a strong 40psi idle cold to 8-10psi idle hot and 15psi high idle. so it would seem the ole girl has some hours on her. but it dosnt burn oil, dosnt knock, fires right up, didnt see any thing in oil when i dumped it. im thinking this is a oil pump related issue. your thoughts?

Hi does it have the British BC-144 engine or has someone replaced it with a C-1XX engine?

Could be a worn oil pump or worn crank and rod bearings.

What weight of oil is in it? Try changing oil and filter to 10-40W. Be careful changing oil filter if it has the old style
canister. If you decide to change the O-ring make sure you get all the old O-ring removed out of the groove. DO NOT over tighten
the oil filter canister or you will warp the holder. I only change the O-ring about every third filter change but that was on
the Diesel BD-154 engine.

Enjoy your B-414, I spent many hours in the seat of our B414, 434 and 384 but they were all Diesel models.

it has the bc 144 engine. fresh 15 40 mobil delvac with filter. when i first looked at it the crank case had a bunch of gas in it from a misadjusted float. so i dumped it and put cheap 10w30 with sea foam in it and ran it a bit. dumped it again and put the 15w40 in it.

Hi from B-414 Operator's manual on oil pressure guage:

OIL PRESSURE GAUGE
Diesel Engine:
This gauge shows whether lubricating oil is circulating through the engine. The indicator needle should register in the
white area when the engine is running at a speed approximately 100 r.p.m. above low
idle speed" If it is not in the white area, stop the engine immediately and investigate the cause of the oil pressure failure.
If you are unable to find the cause consult your International Harvester dealer before operating the engine.

Gas Engine:
OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
This light should always be out once the engine has started. The light coming on during operation will indicate that
lubricating oil is no longer circulating at the requisite pressure. Immediately this happens the engine must be switched off
and the cause of the failure ascertained.

The part number for the oil pressure sensor switch for gas engine is 82847703. You can google 82847703 and you will find that it
is a common oil pressure switch used in many tractors.

I tried to find the specs on part number 82847703 oil pressure sensor switch but could not find any online.
I seem to recall the low pressure was 10 to 12 PSI but don't take my memory as fact.
