OK, all you knowledgeable IH gurus; My 574 has too good of brakes, she just came out of a shop for some work, had to replace the 540 PTO shaft so seeing as the top cover had to come off it was time to replace the parking brake and as long as they where into it that far fix the main brakes, the right would always leak down and require bleeding the left was always strange it would build up and apply itself, you would have to bleed fluid to release the brake. The brakes were a pain $$$$$ this is an early unit and new brake discs where not available so the shop retro fitted newer pistons and plates and new discs, rebuilt the master cylinders and then replaced one with a new one. The equalizer has been bypassed. The brakes still apply themselves and the only way to release them is to relieve pressure at the bleeders. the restriction orifice is installed as are the individual screens. Any thoughts or ideas?

Hi Lou, just some random thoughts, was the plastic reservoir added like the later models? The theory behind the reservoir is the reservoir can stay full and the excess Hytran will overflow into the return line. Is the return line to the transmission restricted or clogged. Is the main return line from the oil cooler restricted or clogged and causing excess pressure to be applied to the brakes? Also is pressure on PS too high, greater than 1500 PSI and more than 3 GPM causing more Hytran to flow through power brake lines?

I finally got my 574 brakes to work right, no where in the manuals did I find a reference to eccentric adjusters in front of the master cylinders. Well there are I had to back those off. Of course I had been scratching my head for quite some time and actually shimmed the master cylinders back which cured the problem of the brakes applying them selfs then I found the eccentric adjusters.
