restoring B414 - convert to alternator and elec ignition?

I am restoring my Dad's 1964 B414 for utility use and I want opinions. Currently it is 12v positive ground with a generator. I have the fuel tank off currently (I'll clean it and line it) and I figure it would be a good time to update to a Delco 1 wire alternator, negative ground, and solid state ignition.

I did this to my 1956 Ford 650 19 years ago and have always been glad I did- that tractor always starts!

Neighbor had a B414. That is one tractor I never liked. parts were very hard to find and expensive. If the genny isn't charging then now is a good time to change to an altenator. My personal opinion on EI is it's a waist of money on a tractor. All my tractors have points and start just as fast as my 95 GMC truck. I'm not sure there is a EI conversion kit available for a B414.

The tractor hasn't run in probably 7 years or more. The tank is nasty and the fuel line going to the pump was totally plugged with varnished gas. So- I don't know if the generator works- most likely, it does.

I can definitely get an elec ignition kit for it- about $100.

In today's world- parts seem to be pretty available and not particularly expensive.

If it has a Lucas electrical system, I'd definitely replace
it. My brother had a tractor with a Lucas system, & it was
always one thing after another.
I finally put a Delco 3 wire on it. No more problems.
