Re: Farmall 706 - Dash Oil light on when TA is in Direct

The 706 has a hydraulic apply direct clutch in the TA, using a multi disk clutch pack. TA apply pressure comes from MCV pump and
control. Does it shift to direct with the lever forward? If it shifts weakly or stays in the reduction ratio, it either has a
valve adjustment issue in the TA control, or a hemorrhage in the TA direct clutch apply servo. Jim

Is there any way any of the linkage could move a wiring harness when shifting?

The reason I ask is I had the oil light come on on an 856 once. Insulation had worn through on the wire to the oil pressure sender, grounding it out and turning the light on. I suppose it's possible that the linkage could move a wiring harness just enough to turn the light on.

Well first off on a 666 you have the OLD STYLE T/A and it is all mechanical and has no bearing on the OIL light unless you have a bare wire on the oil tel tale light wire . Now on a large frame tractor then you would have and issue with the something involved in the T/A system . 656=686 use the mechanical style and yep they can be fussy on clutch and T/A adjustments due to the extensive field testing they have gone thru . myself i do the adjustments by FEEL but that is due to the years i have worked on them.
The way the oil lights work is that the sender is a GROUNDING sender and any place that wire can find a ground will cause the dash light to come on , SOOOooooo go start tracking that wire for a rub thru. Your post was misleading as you asked about a 706 and on them there is about 6 things that can cause the oil light to come on . So if you do have a problem with a 706 then as me again and i will guide you along .
