Super A Engine Number

I understand the engine serial number is to be found on the right side of the block, stamped into the machined surface of a raised boss located behind the coil. The numbers I found are 262497. The numbers are not preceded by any letters. Does the lack of letters mean this is a replacement engine?

I have a 1948 FAA (according to the seat frame tag) that was advertised as a '53. The engine block pad is blank.
I surmised that a new engine was installed in 1953 & the pad never got stamped.

A date code is XX*XX*X with The first being the month,(might be only one number, not two) the second is the day of the month, (could be one number) and the third is a single letter standing for the year. See attached chart for meaning.

Gene: I hope this isn't more than you want to know:
Right side of the engine block, behind the oil filter, 257069R1, numbers are cast in.
Right side of the engine block, below the oil filter, numbers appear to be on a tag screwed on at the time of casting, 6 16
Halfway along the right side of bell housing, between hydro pump and battery, numbers appear to be on another tag screwed on at time of casting, 7 27 R
Right rear of bell housing, directly under battery, 351687-R1, numbers are cast in.
Right side of transmission housing, numbers appear to be on another screwed on tag, 7/15/47
Transmission housing cover (with gear-shift pattern), 6832 DA, numbers are cast in.

Gene: My reply just posted did not reproduce as I wrote it and it is difficult to make out. I'll try again.

with those cast codes looks like it was assembled in the last half of 47 unless lots of parts have been changed over the yrs you didn't say cast code on the engine. I have the original B Dad bought for me to help on the farm there are some cast codes dating July 23, 1947 on my birthday when I turned 12. Tractor was delivered on the farm three wks later its a Louisville tractor spent 65yrs on the farm never set out in the rain. Youngest brother died and his wife gave it to me. Still original lites still work batt box is good ect same starter and gen with cutout crank is in original place. I did make a wide seat for rides when im gone it goes to my nieces husband.

The engine numbers I can find are all on the right side of the block:

Stamped in behind the coil, 262497

Cast in behind the oil filter, 257069R

Screw tag, cast in below the oil filter, 6 16
