Farmall M Clutch Shaft

I have installed a Farmall super M front input shaft with the super m yoke coupler my question is the clutch shaft that goes into the clutch it is the same as the M right?

I found on the H the hard way, there's two ways t install that 4-bolt coupler; with the maximum space inside, that is with the shaft all the way forward, or with the minimum space inside, with the clutch shaft to the rear. I discovered the hard way that with the shaft to the rear, the end of it is NOT in the pilot bearing, and it flips and flops around the destroys things. The M might be the same way, I dunno.

Yes, you have to install the clutch shaft with the maximum space inside the yoke. If you do it incorrectly, you will get an undesired result as you described above. I'm not sure if the shafts are the same between the M and Super M, though. I would think so, but if it has the Rockford clutch (12"), it MAY be different. One way to know would be to look on the CASE-IH website and pull up the parts schematic for each tractor. See if they use the same part numbers for each or if they are different.
