I have a IH 2424 diesel with a front pump for loader driven by a shaft welded to a flange that is bolted to front of crankshaft. This is a setup made by a farm mechanic who has a small machine shop and does welding. Thing would work ok if only clearance to a casting was greater, and shaft, flanges and sprocket were lined up 100%. Loader worked ok when bought it from him until I put heavy load of dirt in bucket a few times and weld on crank flange broke. I cut fan shroud and pulled radiator, and removed front grill. Photos attached show casting etc. YT's Bob in the Repair/restore forum sent me link to Case IH parts catalog which showed somewhat similar setup originally; original parts not available. Am now planning to have 3/4"shaft turned down 1/16" and grind 1/4 inch off that casting below shaft, then have another machinist weld flange on straight, and continue to use sprocket and chain connections at pump. Can anyone comment on pbm?
