How many of you clear coat at this stage? Why or why not? What kind do you use? Etc.

If I knew my 4th tractor restoration would take over 2 years I probably wouldn't have started it. Complete engine rebuild, all seals, brakes, gaskets, on and on. Stripped and painted every piece. Now today. Got the two final coats on all the red. Haraaaa. One day I'll fully understand why they had to run steering shaft through radiator.

Next on the agenda. Rims, Sheet metal. Replumb hydraulics, wiring, beef up 3 pt hitch, come up with some type comfortable seat. I just need a little time to finish. Lol

To restore one right you got to love it because it sure ain't worth your time and money. I'm really ready to hear it run again.

I believe if you get enough paint on the chassis, it will glow.

I paint with urethane, thinking about mixing extra clear in with the final coat on sheet metal.

I put a white Tombstone seat like the hyd seat on the 56-series tractors on my Stage 2 Super H, same battery box seat base you have. Seat came from Easy Bob's Farmall parts, now Devon's Tractor Parts, made by K&M. 4 full inches of foam rubber in seat bottom and backrest, very good Nauguhyde on it too, 13 years old and not a crack or tear in it! 2 inches of foam on the fold-up armrests. I used a 3/8" thk plate to bolt to the seven threaded inserts in the bottom of the seat, and used the four normal bolts to bolt plate to the seat suspension. I put all new rubber bushings in the seat suspension to replace the 51 year old originals.

Wish I had that seat on that tractor when I used to run it 8, 10, 12+ hours a day.

Thanks. I'll check that out. Sounds perfect. Back in the day had to be a long day in that seat but better than walking behind a team of mules.
