I have looked at a number of F-14s, and all of them I have seen have a solid triangular plate in front of the left brake drum, the plate being held on by 3 bolts. The F-14 I am restoring, however has a plate in this spot that has a large round hole in the center, that appears to be "factory". Does anyone know what the purpose of this 2 1/2 inch or so hole would be for?

On a W-12 or W-14 I think the plate you are looking at has a tube welded in
that hole that serves as a fender brace/ foot rest on them.

As if sitting on it, hydro pump, left as standing in front, belt pulley. Those are the only places I can think of without looking at mine.

The 'triangle' plate is the bearing holder for the counter shaft.A factory hydraulic pump would normally be installed there. The hole you are referring to is probably some kind of accessory drive. A picture would be helpful,as I have never seen exactly what you are describeing.

The only thing that was normally attached to the left end of the first shaft on a F-12, F-14 was an hydraulic pump. The right hand end had the belt pulley. Possibly someone has out a right- hand end-fitting on the left-hand end. On the W-12, O-12, I-12 and Fairway-12 the covers on each side had a tube with bracket on the end to support the front of the fenders.

These 2 plate may be what you are talking about.

Yes, the one on the top right looks like mine. I assume it would be best to replace it with a solid plate since I have no attachment to fit in the hole?
