Farmall M engine felt seals

While looking over my engine gasket set I have for my Farmall
M there is the felt seals for the rear main seal then there is a
circular felt that looks like it could be for the crankshaft with 2
smaller felts inside that felt that break apart. I?m lost as to what
these felts go to could someone tell me what these felts are
for?

The two half circle pieces go in the rear main if I remember correctly. The others are just pieces to make you wonder when you get finished......did I put everything together right.

Are you referring to the little felt strips that seal the lower half of the oil seal retainer to the engine block?

Haha that sounds about right. I?m just curious cause I can?t remember pulling any small circular felts out of the motor when I tore it apart

No it?s just 3 circular felt seals 3 different sizes they are whole not cut in half like the rear main felts

One could be what was used between front oil seal and pulley back when leather seals were used. If you don't have a round ring a little harder than felt for the forward end of governor tube to carburetor it could be one.
