the tires i have on the front of my w-4 are harvest king F-2, 3 rib 6.00-16, is there a better USA made tire and tube that would work good on the front end? i just use the tractor to mow with a brush hog sometimes through thick weeds and brush. any suggestions? thanks

Well unless your tires are getting to the point like one of the tires I had on my BA they are probably about as good as you can get. I had to replace one of the front tires on my BA due to the fact the tire was as thin or thinner then the tube was. Had to order a tire and when I got it I almost fell down when I saw MADE IN THE U.S.A. on it

No such thing as a thick tire that a thorn will not go threw. If you want to make a tire hold up to thorns you need to have them foam filled. But that costs a lot of $$ and also when the tires go bad you buy new rims. Years ago you could buy a tire liner that would help but those are all but gone. I have cut an old tube and lay them inside the tire which does help but not much

i wonder if you can cut up a 1/2 flexible horse stall mat and insert it into the tire then put the tube in, should help out some with small thorns, maybe i'll give that a try this winter when i bring the tractor in for repairs

I think you will find trying that mat stuff will cause as many problems as it fixes. Good chance it will rub the tube in such a way as to rub holes in it. The old liners you could get where made so the edges where real thin but the middle was thick. One thing that some use is slime In there tubes

I agree with old, put in some Slime. I've seen some good sized holes it plugged. Be sure to drive the tractor around for a while to give the inside a good coating. I also put in more than the chart calls for.

get an 8 ply firestone or some steel belted radials. are you having problems or just presuming you will get flat tires. cant see a three rib tire going flat from weeds and brush.

i got one flat already cutting a big section of the property, it was a small thorn, i was just thinking about preventive maintenance

Locust sprouts can grow some mighty healthy looking thorns.

I've had a good many thorns put holes in my car tires and well radials are all you can pretty buy now days. Ya the tread area hold up better but the side wall do not and once you have a side wall hole the tire is done. Have a tire in the trunk of my car I use as my spare that I put slime in because of a side wall hole for ma thorn

Look at aircraft tires. I put new rims and 18 ply aircraft tires on my 886 for about $200 a piece. No more flats. And no, they don?t look like they
belong on a 747. You would never know if I told you. They look more like implement rib tires (have half a dozen shorter ribs) but have a squared
off sidewall. Love them. Second tractor I have put them on.

Aircraft tires are the best idea I've heard so far. You buy them already installed on the rims, because there's no tire machine near you that can put them on.

Gensco, I think is the name. Prices are very reasonable.
