340 utility steering shaft leaking

I have a 340 utility the other day was using it and looked
down and there was oil running down over around the shifter
after looking into it there is a pipe plug with a hole in it up the
steering shaft. When it was running and I would turn the
steering wheel oil runs out the plug. Was wondering if a seal
blue out in the hydronic unit in the steering shaft . Any help
would be great
 
Probably wore out, I bet nobody has looked at it since original in the 1960s...

My opinion of my 460U, (similar machine) is that the power steering is the most intricate part of the tractor.
 
My 330 did that. The steering still worked fine, so I replaced the plug with a tube fitting, and ran a line back to the reservoir, and let it leak.
