F-20 and F-30 Differences?

I think I have only seen one F-30 up close. It was on steel and seemed to have smaller diameter rear wheels than I have seen on F-20's. What were the major differences?

well , the F30 was the biggest tractor in its day. the F20 was the next size down. the F30 was a 3/16 plow tractor.

I had 2 30s and around 3 or 4 20s. The BIGGEST differencc, other than overall size, is that with the 30, to engage the PTO and pulley, You had a lever right there in close proximity to the gear shift, and you just moved it right or left without stooping over. With the 20 you almost had to put your face through the steering wheel to reach down low enough to reach the side lever on the L side.

Everything bigger on 30, engine, gas tank. One difference is location of oil filter. F-20 is located between 3 and 4 plug, F-30 is smack in middle. Just a quick way I can tell from pictures.

The F-30 was the second biggest. The W-40 was the biggest of their day.
IHC might have kept up with JD if they had kept the bigger tractors in the W-40 & WD-40 line.

yes the w40 was in the standard tractor line, following the W30. he was talking farmall models, your throwing in the standard model W 40 model , there was no F40 's. plus they were ahead of john deere by about 15 years with the wd40 diesel tractor. F30 was the biggest farmall.

According to the serial number reference on this web site, the F-30 production started a year before the F-20.

Several wheel options were available for both. So it is easy to 'imagine' that some F30 could have smaller wheels than F20. Or vice versa.F-30 had a large nut on the rear hub. The F20 did not.As was said, the pto engagement lever was different on both as well as oil filter. As a whole the F30 was simply BIGGER.
