To address one question up front - this tractor was delivered new with the hydra-touch, it is not the touch control.
Due to an oil leak into the crank case, I replaced the seal on the hydraulic pump, the gaskets, and o-rings. I also replaced the drive gear and woodruff key since the original gear had a dimple and deformation on one tooth. Today it?s back together. To be sure I primed the system correctly, I reviewed the owners manual. Although I had missed it on previous occasions, today I noted the manual says to clean the hydra-touch air breather.
Mine has no air breather. There is an 1/8? plug where I believe the breather should be, but the breathers I?ve seen online appear to be 1/4?. So my questions:
- Was the breather optional? This was my grandfather?s tractor since new. I do not recall ever seeing that air breather.
- Is the breather essential? It seems not since this tractor has not had one on it for at least 60 years.
- Are the replacement filters 1/8?or 1/4? threaded fittings? (part #446808C1 which superceded the original 366591R91)
Thanks in advance for your input.
