856 won't start

My 856 will not start. I've replaced the battery, starter solenoid and it won't even crank. Wondering what else I need to check. Seems like it's not getting power to the push button, plus the amp light used to come on when I turned the key on, now it does not. Do I need to replace the key switch and push button, or look at the voltage regulator for the problem?

I'd check the battery cables. The amp lite should come on as soon as you turn the key, and blink when it's ready to start. (Assuming it's a diesel).

On most tractor one can jump across the small solenoid wire to the battery cable on the solenoid and see if it then turns over. Be very sure it is out of gear when you do this. If it spins over that way then to switch maybe the problem but if it does not turn over poor connection are a likely problem

First check(and clean) battery cables. Both ends of both. Pay special attention to the ground. conections must be clean and shiney. Also chech the clutch safty switch. As easy as using a jumper wire at the plug.

red power magazine had a good article last year about this problem. it stated that the 06 56 and 66 series tractors did this alot . they recemended that all the connections on the key starter button and saftey switch be taken off and cleaned and tightened. i usually check the clutch safety switch first .there is a junction block under the tach guage behind that panel that rusts up and causes elecitrical problems. personally i dont show anyone the screwdriver jumping the selenoid trick have heard of people being killed when a tractor starts in gear. had a friend that is a tractor collecter he started a tractor on the ground and forgot it was in gear it knocked him down and wedged him agains a wall and the tire spun on his leg and it had to amputated. by the way those amp lights do burn out sometimes.
