IH 815 combine jammed

Neither my father nor I ran a combine before this summer when we purchased an 815 with two heads at a sale. Worked like a charm in our oats but sorry to say we ran her through just a bit too much fox tail and stalled her out. Now she runs fine but the separator drive won't engage, the belts just slip under the load of the trash jammed in. We removed two different clean out covers and pulled out what we could but it hasn't made a difference. What's the best way to clean a jam on one of these combines? Thanks,

Pete

Go easy on that main cylinder drive belt, but you got to lower the concave, to unplug it,Pull backwards on the straw chopper belt if you can,, or did it come with a big cylinder wrench to unslug it? Maybe a big crowbar with help, wiggle it and get the cylinder free !!!

Assuming the cylinder is slugged and not the feeder house.............

You will need to lower the concave and then take a large spud bar and start rocking the
cylinder backward (then pull out what you can)........ then repeat.

Sometimes using your knife to cut away at the slug helps also.

Not to discourage you, but I've seen this take half a day or longer.

If by chance it's the feeder house.....there should be a shaft you can get a wrench on and
turn the slug back to the bottom and start pulling.

Well dad ran her again today and I guess the separator drive had been left forward from the last time because it shot out a bunch of dried up weeds upon startup. However the auger doesn't spin now. Otherwise seems okay. What should I be looking for?
