Farmall B oil pressure

when i started up the B i do not get a reading on oil pressure, i swapped out the gauge with a good one that i know it works and still get a zero oil pressure reading, i removed the gauge and cranked it over to see if oil is getting to that part and it shoots out the gauge port and the oil filter is oiled up but then when i get up to the rocker arms no oil is getting up there. what should i look for? oil pump worn out?

not uncommon for the bottom cover on the pump to wear grooves in it. my b had low pressure and would drop to almost nil after running a while. drop the oil pan and remove the lower pump cover,(be careful there is a spring in there that will drop out. ) i used an emery cloth and a sheet of glass to sand it in circular motion to get rid of the grooves.

ok, i thought that could be the problem, i just ordered a new gasket and relief spring, i will give that a try.
thanks

I did the same to my 123 on our BN as I was reassembling it. Now from full ildel to ful throttel the gage stays at about the 75% mark. Hand hone the bottom plate of the oil pump, make cretain it us not bent, twisted to start with use coars ahd sucessivlly finer grades of grit to almost a "mirror finish" then I used a standard gasket material similar to the orriginal, cut y own and reassembled.
Best to you. Take your time. Well worth it.

I went thru all that filing down the cover with sandpaper, differant spring and all those bandaids, but when i got new bearings on the crank, now i got 70 lbs pressure, I got the original and another oil gauge up near the steering wheel. There both pegged hot or cold.

Most of the time the aluminum cover warps and blows that rice paper thin gasket out. You usually notice it by not losing oil pressure completely but it falls off suddenly. I have found the amount it falls off relates to the amount of gasket blown out. Which seems pretty obvious. Only had one or two where it was the bearings and they were tractors that had been used cultivating with no or lose breather hoses.
