IH 424 Rear remote

I have a 1967 424 gas tractor with a loader, a remote under the left floor board and a rear remote. I am trying to run a JD 1207 mower/conditioner which has a single hydraulic line hook up. If i hook the mower up to the rear remote I can raise it with the lever under the seat. The problem is I cannot lower it. I tried using the 3 point by turning the control wheel on the right side of the seat in but that doesn't work either. Not sure where to go from here?
Thanks,
Terry

I would THINK it should work, although when lowering the pump will labor because the second coupler port isn't being used. That could be alleviated by plugging in a second hose, and routing the oil back to the sump/tank.

Back to the problem at hand... Have you used the MoCo with another tractor successfully?

It's POSSIBLE there's a bad hydraulic "tip" or a slight mis-match between the coupler body and tip that doesn't allow oil to flow in the down/return direction. That happens.

Also, for some tractors, there's special instructions in the manual for these situations, have you looked/do you have a manual?

I have a diesel 424 and a manual, but at a remote location, could look tomorrow, though.

Just some thoughts.

We had the 1207 hooked up to another tractor and it worked fine. In my manual it talks about hooking up a return line from the other port on the remote to the hydraulic reservoir to avoid damaging the hydraulic system. I don't see how that would help when using the lever under the seat as it seems to only be either flow or no flow.

"lever under the seat as it seems to only be either flow or no flow"

I'm not understanding that statement???

I DO suspect a coupler issue with the "will not lower" problem, though.

The lever under the seat is connected to the remote on the left side of the seat. When you pull it up it provides hydraulic pressure to the lower coupler on the remote. When you let it go it stops. It is a one way lever, there is no release. I was wondering if I had a return line hooked up from the upper coupler to the reservoir if it would release the pressure when I let the lever go? It just doesn't make sense to me how this is set up. In my manual it talks about the rear remote on page 25.

If this is the lever under the LH side of the seat, it should be spring-centered, you should be able to lift it up from it's centered position, or push it down from it's centered position. I wonder, could there be something in the way of the linkage movement not allowing you to move it to the "lower" position, or else something must be out of order in the valve???
