My daughter and I bought a 1951 Farmall H .We got it running and like it. My question is do both rear tires always pull. When we turn the front wheels it does not want to turn. the tractor is a narrow front.

Ah there is some physics here, that come into play, if you had enough weight on the front to turn the tractor, with the digger in the ground, you wouldn't be able to steer it, but if both wheels are getting similar traction, they both pulling, or are you talking pulling a hay rake and it wont turn, to your satisfaction ?

Unless there is so much water in the rear end grease, that it froze or rusted the spider gears , so they cant move!

get a owners manual. tsc probably has one. open the drain plug for transmission and do not remove plug, let water out and oil should come after or it will stop running out. then open check plug and check for oil level. add as required.

then run tractor for a bit. drain transmission oil completely and re fill. maybe this will help

Using the wheel brakes to turn is very normal. If your tractor pushes (a word describing front wheels that are turned more than they should be for the turn you are making) when on pavement, there are internal differential issues. If you are pulling an implement like a drag or disk, try letting the drawbar swing on the U support. This really helps turning. If the brakes are poor, fixing them is a reality you need to deal with soon. Jim
