IHC one hole corn sheller

I know this ant no tractor but wasn't sure where to go. Picked up this unit this week and not really sure what I want to do with it. It's in great mechanical shape and has a little original red and some white paint. Has IHC decal on flywheel side and McCormick Deering on the hand crank side.. Would like to hear what some of you would suggest I do with it. I know my string belt is not on correctly. I have a leather belt ordered for it.
Does anyone have the color scheme or know where to find it? Thanks for your help!

I have bought a bunch of them for the Amish Machinery Dealer I work with. They still use them regulary. Mostly IHC, some New Idea, very few JD as those are too high priced for to use. $50-90 range.

These do an excellent job of shelling corn. Will take nearly every kernel off the cob. I have one that was modified with a belt pulley to run with an old engine. You have the string belt on incorrectly. The belt needs to be crossed to reverse the rotation of the little fan. I?ve not had much success using a leather belt. A belt made from 1/4 inch diameter round rubber worked better for me. You can stretch the rubber to make it tight. You only need to connect the belt ends with a staple or piece of wire. Your sheller is a nice one because it has the clutch on the hand crank so the flywheel can continue to run when you stop cranking. Some do not have that clutch and it can be a hazard as the flywheel inertia keeps the hand crank going when you release the crank. Save the feed hopper as those hoppers are scarce!

The leather belt will be original but the round o-ring style lid seal from a 5 gallon pail also works great. Belt requires one twist for correct fan rotation.

I have a wooden version of the sheller. Shelled enough corn to feed 2 pigs one year. Bought a tractor driven sheller right after that.

I grew up with one like that also, i thought it was fun at first, we used it to shell a little corn for the chickens.

I have one that was repainted before I got it. It is all red. Bought it for hulling walnuts, but now it is just yard art and home to a family of wrens.

I have a fairly nice original wood box IHC sheller. I wasn't sure what to do with mine either It sits in the corner of my den near the fireplace.

I was always told that you put the little end of the ear in that to get the little grain and trash off before you run thru the sheller if
You are using the corn for meal or for seed corn. It has teeth up inside that cone on the end of the shaft. Makes sense to me. Huh
