Corrosion on Float

Asking for a buddy (really). He's got an SMTA where the carb was disassembled, cleaned and reassembled. Ran perfect for a couple weeks. Then, starts to run like crap. Disassembles carb and finds green corrosion all over brass float, pin, and needle valve. I would think water in gas but the tractor ran great before the corrosion. What do you guys think, what would make it corrode?

Sounds like to things. He let it sit a few days and the alcohol gas absorbed some water and that if turn caused the float to corrode a bit

That green stuff does not occur in that short of a time period. The corrosion was already there. It should have been dealt with when the carburetor was over-hauled the first time. 0000 steel wool does wonders on brass floats.
