Complete identification of my 300U

Hello--before I ask my question--PLEASE understand that this is the very first time I have ever tried this. Not real good with computers. If I commit any breach of proper protocol please do not hesitate to correct me. I really don't know what all the little boxes next to "Message body" mean, so I left them alone--I did not '"select" anything, so, hopefully, the format of my post is legit---
Now, re: my question---Only upon seeing this great web-page did I realize there is more to identifying my ol' girl than I knew. The gent I bought it from 25+ yrs ago only described it as a 1955 International 300U, and, that is all I have ever used until now. In the listings here, there are alphabetic categories I do not know. I just picked the "300" sub-category in one of the lists and, with help from one of the actual live, actually American speaking, actually courteous folks available I ordered the improved version of my started bendix. Gonna need other stuff in near future, and, I would like to order accurately---and, not be a burden to the folks here either---
Sorry for the long post. I'll try to do better next time. Thanks in advance for any help. I think I attached a recent pic of my 300&me--not sure--

If you ask the moderators (Feedback Forum to the left) they will permit you to post pics. The issue is a safety mechanism to prevent nasty images from
being posted by spammers. CaseIH on line has parts listings in their parts store, with diagrams. Some letter Prefix and Suffix parts of a serial
number describe transmission options, PTO options, altitude compensation (compression ratio) and hydraulic system options. Welcome. Jim

Professor Jim is the guru on those 300u tractors. He, along with others on this site are very helpful. Good luck with the 300u, Gary.

I am really not sure what you mean by "alphabetic categories." In 1955, IH produced the Farmall 300 and the International 300 Utility, aka 300U for short. No subtypes, nothing complicated about the model. You could have certain options, like a hot dog with just mustard, or a full on Chicago-style with a whole bunch of optional "condiments." Power steering, TA, rear fast hitch, live PTO, and one or two hydraulic remote controls were all optional on this tractor, but did not create any specific "subtype."

Hello again. I really apologize for my protocol ignorance, but I do not know if I am supposed to answer each reply or just continue on like this---if incorrect please advise. First of all, thank you to 3 replies I see below. second--is it legit to ask protocol questions here, or, should I refer such to the moderator(?) or whomever--third--the only placed I've encountered the alphabetic categories is here in the parts listings pages for "Farmall IH". I did not even know they are directly related, much less to Case even! In fact, my 300 only has "International" name tags on both sides of the main cowl. It has all the options that "BarnyardEngineering" mentioned except--SADLY--power steering! Right now, I am waiting for the bendix I ordered the other day. I then have a couple jobs to finish with it before I get further into repairs I want to do--carb is shaky, clutch is really worn(I think) and tach is broken. All of which will require that I have proper info to order parts. Thanks again for responses--(not doin' to good on bein' brief, am I?)

You are doing Great. Don't worry or fret. FInd the IH parts site I mentioned. (search By Model 300 Utility) Posting a picture takes far more lines
of code than a wordy post. If people do not want to read it OK. Jim

Hello redneck, welcome to YT! You are doing fine put as much wording in the post as you like.
And answer others as you see proper. I don?t mind a long thread I would rather see that then a
post that lacks information. I?m bad about this but I will do it anyway that being taking the thread
off topic. I see you?re from upstate New York...never set foot in your state myself..., very close to
the Adirondack area? If so beware of some guy named Loren who chases a whole herd of pretty
Case tractors around in the woods up there. He usually hangs around..Tractor Talk...and the J.I.
Case forums here. Some say he is a little obsessive about firewood. Lol.

Thank you used red & Jim for your continuing help/interest in my quest--gotta say, I left here to look for the "CaseIH" site alluded to by Jim--did not find it AND darn near didn't figure my way back here! Also, I did recheck the "Farmall IH" page(?) rigt here on the "Yesterdays Tractors" site(?) to make sure I was describing it accurately, and, I was. However, with the confidence gained from info supplied by y'all, I have been able to find a couple things I'm gonna need near future, and, am comfortable with the knowledge that the basic "300U" designation is sufficient for my needs. Also, used red---we live right in the foothills of the Adirondacks, town of Newport---God's country, ol' son. Thank you both again. I'm gonna try to keep up with this forum--site--page???, but, I'm not kiddin', gents---I ain't very good at this computer crap, and, it is 50/50 at best that I'll git it back correctly. Best Regards--Mike McCormack
