Super M transmission

Tractor won't move. I've been restoring for over year when I have time. I have had the tranny cover off to replace gasket. I have split tractor in half and replaced rear seal. Replaced brakes etc. I checked all gear shifting after reinstalling tranny cover. All seemed fine. I went to roll tractor today and it just rocks back and forth. No matter what gear even with clutch in. The tractor has not been started since I started the restoration. I have rolled it 100ft or so after having it all back together.

Went to move today and clearly a gear is engaged or something. It doesn't appear to be brakes. Reverse now feels odd on the shifter.
I jacked up rear of tractor and inn gear one side would normally turn by hand. Now both completely locked up.

Is there anything obvious I'm missing before I take this lid off again? Man I didn't plan on that. And considering I thought I checked and verified all shifter fork / gear locations before...... Any methods etc to get it right second time???

Thanks.

Sounds like transmission is engaged in 2 (or even 3...) gears at once.

Remove the shift lever and peek inside. The slots in all 3 shift rails should be in line, and centered on the opening. If any are not, use a prybar or big screwdriver to center/align all 3 rails. (If the rails resist movement, jack up one rear wheel to free them up.) With the rails all centered the tractor should now roll easily.

Got it guys. Right brake was in a bind. I felt sure the way it would rock back and forth slightly it was gear out of place. All seems good now.

And I did work on those shift forks and also rebuilt the end of shifter shaft.

Thanks guys. I'll sleep better tonight knowing I don't have to lift the lid.
