Have some slop in the steering of my H. Pulled cover off of steering gears to view the worm gear and sector gear to see if problem was there or in the vertical shaft. Pulled sector gear out and washed everything out so I can view things better.
Put gear back in and tap it to where it is resting on seal in bottom or appears to be. Did not put nut back on but just rocked the steering shaft on the worm gear side back and forth. It appears the slop is in the splines on the sector gear. Maybe it is because the sector gear is not seated completely. I was surprised to see this.
Anyone seen this before? How does this get repaired other than replacement?
