I have a guys 1466 in my shop with a bad engine. They have a 1460 combine that is worn out. They want me to take the motor out of the combine and put it in the 1466. They both have the 436 engine. How much will i have to retrofit to make it work in the tractor? Anybody have experience with this or have done it? Any knowledge will be great. Thanks!

Done that swap a lot, easy as pie. pull the pan and use tractor oil pick up and pan use the rear engine plate from the tractor and install the tach drive from the tractor. Some will say you have to change the injection pump but I say try it first, any the ones I did the combine pump seemed way more responsive and you can change it after the fact easy. There you go, easy peasy. Oh and don't forget to put a new quad ring in the back of the block at the camshaft BEFORE you put the rear plate on.

That makes me feel better. I have a fresh injection pump and injectors from the bad engine that i just got back from my pump shop. Most likely i will install them if they are compatible. Thank you for your help!

I?ve done a couple easy as the other poster said, leave the combine pump on and it?s really responsive.

Yes that's the one, early engines had a plug which is fine however later just had a ring that sealed against the rear cover along with a full gasket.
