altenernator wiring?

I have the standard delco conversion alternator on my Farmall A. It was there when I got it. The wiring was pretty messed up and I think I have fixed everything now with the exception of the Alternator. Essentially it is only charging the battery which is only used to start the tractor. I am using a magneto. I have the main output going to the positive of the battery and I am not getting a charge. Do I need to jump the sensor connector over to the output? Or is there something else.
 
If it's a three wire Delco 10si, you need to run Terminal 1 from the alternator to an indicator light or resistor and then to a switched source that gives battery positive when the ignition is on. Terminal 2 can go right over to the B+ of the alternator.

Why not T1 to Batt also? Being I always pop the negative battery terminal off when I stop the tractor.
 
I guess you could, but if you forgot to unhook the battery cable when it wasn't running then it would run the battery down. You would want to put an indicator light in series with the wire from terminal 1 or at least a 10ohm 10 watt resistor.
 
Instead of popping negative battery terminal why not install a switch like this. With this switch you can remove the key in it and stop any
unwanted use of tractor.

Something is wrong with the alternator. I tried a bulb, a 10ohm resister and a diode and no charging at any RPM. Not sure if I should buy a new alternator or a rebuild kit.]
