Farmall 300 Transmission Oil Change

Would like some advice please. Changing oil in the transmission. Opened the two drain plugs per pages 42 and 47 of the original 300 manual. Left it over night and and
appeared done draining this am.

Installed 6 gallon of oil this am and when I checked the rear transmission oil fill plug (blue) it overflowed. So I checked the most forward fill plug (yellow) and
nothing came out.

So I checked most forward drain plug and more old oil came out.

Not sure what the next step is and I do not understand what the plug next to forward oil fill is for. Could that be just machining on the housing for other models
options or is that the filler plug for the front portion? The manual is silent about any forward filler plugs.

some help would be very appreciated.

thanks

There are 2 on the belly of the tractor. Crawl under it. Its been 30 years since i did a 300. 1 plug for tranny 1 plug for rear end. Another in pto housing which is separate.

Unless the tractor was equipped with a transmission driven PTO and no t/a the forward part of housing and drain plug is where the drive gears for the PTO are. All parts are connected when filling the transmission. Plug you have circled is a fill level check. Also have the the fill level check on side of transmission housing. 3 drain points total when tractor is equipped as stated.

There are three drain plugs on the bottom of the transmission and one fill point beside the shift lever. Either of the two plugs should work as level checks. (blue and yellow) The plug that is circle in black is a mounting boss for a 3/4 inch bolt. When you fill the transmission with HyTran, oil should appear at the front plug in a mater of a few minutes. If I remember correctly I'm thinking I usually pour in 7 gals.

Also as stated the PTO is a separate housing, the drain plug is on the lower left side and the level is half way up the left side. I always use the level plug for filling the PTO.

I want to thank all that replied, good solid comments that helped. We are now back running with new transmission oil, again much obliged.
