I have a 684 that's`having issues. I recently changed air and fuel filters on it as it was losing power and would surge under load. It seemed to straighten out but today while cutting hay it started again. I did notice I was unable to get the RPMs up and it seemed to lack power even at full throttle. the only thing I did notice was when I was changing the fuel filters it took forever for the fiters to fill with fuel again. I bled them out and there was no air in the system as it starts and idles fine. It is the diesel . Any help would be great

Hi, like Dieseltech says fuel flow from the tank. Use a clean bucket to catch the fuel remove the fuel line from the tank where it
is connected to the first fuel filter at front right of engine. The fuel should flow at the full of the pipe. A short term
solution is to blow compressed air into the end of this line back towards the tank but most likely you have to drain the tank and
remove the two outlet fittings at the bottom of the tank. Common problem for these models.

I used to work at main IH dealer here in Uk and a fairly common problem was the outlet tap would get blocked up with dirt but be careful you do not cross thread it as screwing back in.. is the stop lever returning fully to the run position.... one more thing and that is some years ago we had problems with our dexta when it was working heavy and getting hot and that problem was a blocked radiator core after I cleaned radiator core and fan blade the poor running disappeared ..you have renewed air filter but have you checked inlet pipe for restriction

Going to check the radiator this weekend. Also going to drain and check the fuel shut offs. they do open and close completely so hopefully this solves the problem/

Finally think i got it figured out. the fuel line that runs to the injector pump was smashed behind the filter.
