Alternator problem

My 1963 140 was converted to a alternator several years ago wired to bob melvilles diagram . Lately it will draw the battery. Down on a few day. Itake the neg. cable off put test light between battery and the cable it lights up meaning something is drawing current. I can remove the #2 censor wire off the b +post reinstall the large wire and the draw goes away . Does this mean the regulator is bad in the alternator?

It's an internal alternator problem, could be the regulator, or even possibly a bad diode in the diode trio.

Thank you so much I?ve wired twenty plus tractor by your diagrams never had a problem before with any of them

Just to clarify, I think you are referring to "BobM". I am simply "Bob"! I have posted a number of alternator conversion diagrams over the years, tho!

If the drain stops when you pull the wire from #2 terminal there's definitely a problem with the internal regulator. A new regulator - cheap and easy to replace - should fix it.
