460 serial number

I?m looking at. 460 ih.the serial number is 3 numbers - 2 lettered- 3
numbers- two letters. For example (numbers are not actual. Sn)

123-pp-456-py

On top of all of this is HC stamped

Any idea why it?s stamped like this?

Only thing I can think maybe it's a "skid unit" that at one time would have been incorporated into some other piece of equipment such as a paving machine or some sort of delicate crop harvester.

Ok. Tractor has a single front wheel. So maybe some type of
vegetable or cotton picker?

Assuming the "PP" is really there and not just an example, it started out as a skid unit for Piper-Paine. It was probably for a Trac-Paver. The HC is because it is a high clearance unit. It would have been supplied with no front axle as one was made as part of the paver. The single wheel front end on it now was stuck on by whoever removed the paver unit.

It is a ?pp?. So must have been a paver like you stated
