Need Help
Went to replace magneto found bottom bolt broke in tractor that holds magneto.....went to drill out....yes it went in......whats the best way to remove ....take governor housing off ....take frontt tractor apart

if you have a reversible drill, get a left handed twist drill and try that. maybe it will come out. (maybe not)

If I am reading it right, the broken section of bolt fell into the engine when you drilled into it.
If so , I would start with removing the governor and hope it is in there, if not You can try using a magnet to fish it out or pull the oil pan and try to remove it that way. My concern would be the it get into the timing gears and cause some damage if it made it that far.

Yes you are ready correct....took governor off not there......if I remove pan is there enough room for it to go that far.....and is there room to go fishing into front pan....

if it's not in the pan and you can't fish it out from the front cover either through governor hole or from bottom, then next step is to pull front cover, which requires pulling the front bolster and components.

Understand though concearn is there enough room after removing pan to fish from bottom....not looking forward pulling front engine housing....have not turn over nor do i until find the broken bolt....Thanks for your help

There isn't a ton of room, but there is a decent amount between the front cover and the block to fish stuff out of the front cover from the bottom with the pan off. There is enough room to stick a telescopic magnet up in there and fish around, hoping to grab it. Hopefully it has fallen into the pan, you can also try to bounce the front end up and down a little to shake it loose and get it to fall down after the pan is off.

That is why one should always use a left handed drill bit when trying to remove or drill out broken bolt. In your case a left handed bit would have most likely unscrewed the broken bolt right out. Just info to remember for future problems with broken bolts

yup your right...thanks....though things just got worse found strip gears....have to pull front end out and front cover anyways....i guess a blessing

If you want to remove the cam gear from the tractor without pulling the cam out of the engine and pressing it off, I've had good luck drilling and tapping two holes in the face of the gear and using a wheel puller to remove it.
