Hi... I'm in the process of rebuilding my 560 diesel engine. I sent the injectors an head to be redone. Was just wonder what kind of kit would be good to go with for a in frame rebuild complete kit. Theres so many out there didn't know which ones to stay away from. Thanks for any help

If the block has ever been replaced, the late blocks use heavy press fit sleeves. Early blocks used wide top flange slip fit sleeves, and won't fit the late block. Ran into that on my 560 last winter. There's a serial number stamped on the block that will help determine which block/sleeves it has with the head still on.

Before you dive in you best do some serious reading on engine rebuilding of I H engines even before you touch one wrench as it is NOT just twisten bolts and nuts , With any OLD engine rebuild i refuse to do and in chassis and only will do one after everything has been checked and inspected . sleeve instillation has to be done correctly bores have to be checked block decks need checked cranks need checked , new cam bushings need replaced , line bores need checked , rods need reconditioned . You don't know how many times i see on here the statement ( i rebuilt my engine and this is my first rebuild and i have low oil pressure once it warms up or i rebuilt my engine and it is leaking around the head gskt. WHY , or i blew the head gskt. ) NO you did not rebuild all you did was swap parts and have no idea what you did you just stuffed new parts in . Then if your doing the injectors what about the pump . does the machine shop know how the valves are to be set in the head correctly to get them wright ?? Do you know how to set sleeve hight and how to select the sleeves to FIT ?? as oh wait not all the new parts are the same size and not all the hole in the block dead on . Them new pistons are not all the same size either , so ya may have to do some honing to get the correct fit or ya may get away with swapping . Each piston needs miked and marked as to size , each hole needs miked and marked down . So along with tools ya need mic.'s dial indicators . Each contour bore needs checked sleeve flanges need miked , will it need shims or does the bore need cut ?? As far as quality anymore this is a crapshoot , as to where the pieces and parts come from.
