Farmall M Live Hydraulics

I know when adding live hydraulics it?s necessary to replace the camshaft gear with a later style thicker gear which I have done but what about the other gears the crankshaft gear or idler gear is it necessary to replace those or are they the same as later style gears already?
Thanks,
Trent

The cam gear is the only connection to the gear driving the hydraulic pump/distributor. The crank gear seems to be just fine as supplied. If it is worn, or the cam gear failed, I would leave it. Jim

I don't really think the cam gear is that much of an issue. I have a Farmall 400, nut back off damaging cam gear, camshaft, 3 followers. Took apart 2 different Super W6's engines for parts. Both nuts holding the cam gear on were loose also. Was able to get a cam & a gear out the pair of them. Not sure when the left hand thread showed up on the camshaft, but the Super's & 400 I took apart didn't have them. Other bonus, no specs in service manual for the nut either.

Left hand threads were In the 450 production. The pre-live hydraulic Cam gears were weak at the hub and broke. No myth. Jim
