Switching carburetors on '46 Farmall A?

Just brought home a barn-kept '46 A the other day, and I'm trying to get it running. The carb needs work. Here's the question: The tractor was set up for distillate/kerosene at one time, and while I'm sure it hasn't burned such fuel in a very long time, it still has the original kerosene manifold and Marvel Schebler carb. What I'm wondering is this: while I wait on a carb kit, is there any reason I shouldn't slap the gas-only Zenith carb from my '41 A on here to try? I can't think of any reason why not, unless for some reason the mix was set different than that used with a distillate carb and manifold. But since distillate ones were designed to run either fuel... whaddya think?

What have you got to lose by trying it 'cept a few minutes of your time?

Should work fine.

Wait on a carb kit?? If you have a O'Reilly's auto parts store in your area they should be able to get you a kit in less then 24 hours. Price is around $20.
