So this Once burned 584 is starting to leak from the diesel return lines. When I got it the lines where gone so I used what I had on hand but now they are leaking. So what size should they be?? I hope to be able to buy some lien from O'Reilly's to replace what I used that did not hold up to diesel fuel. So I need to know the correct diameter of the line.
Thanks

O my god it?s the tractor from HELL take the fitting off from the return line off and take it to O?Reilly?s don?t use washer hose use fuel line hose

old: for what it's worth, about 10 years ago I replaced the little return lines on 695 CIH with 239 engine that linked the injectors on top of head with Tygon fuel line hose I got from local mower chainsaw shop, as to size he had several rolls and I'm thinking it was like 5/32 or 3/16, I had an old hose piece with me we used for sizing. I don't believe I used any clamps as the hose fit the sharp shoulder hose barbs tight enough it would stay put and sealed.

There is no way in the world I am going to pull an injector to find the correct size of the hose and that is the only way I could do it since the leaking hose goes from injector to injector no place else so there is not any line I can pull off to size the hose

Old: The line will come off with the short bolt type fitting on the top of the injectors without pulling the injectors. I cut the old crimped line off from the injector fitting and then used those little spring tension clamps like on gas lines with the fuel line for the injectors. That will let you take the piece in for correct hose size.

I'll have to look at it a bit better but it seems like the line I am talking about sits at the bottom of each injector. Each piece is maybe 1.5 inch long if even that long. What gets me is yesterday it was leaking and today when I fired it up it was not leaking. Not sure what the heck if going on so I'll be keeping an eye on it

Hi Old, the return line on the 584 should have a banjo fitting with a bolt on each injector.
Just don't loose the washers on either side of the banjo connector.
The older D-206 engines had the return line ending in a large banjo connector, the newer version has just a length of steel fuel line that connects with a compression fitting to a T fitting in front of battery box.

The return line usually leaks when the weather is cold but I doubt the weather has been cold lately.

Just as JimB2 said, the banjo fitting will come off and you can take that to the autoparts store with you.
Here is what the whole assembly looks like that you can purchase from CaseIH for about 60 dollars.

Sure has been cold here at a nice cold temp of 90-100. LOL What is odd is it leaked yesterday but not today. Back when I got this onetime to hot as in a fire 584 all those return lines where gone so I took what I had on hand and put on and that has held up just fine

How many time do I have to tell you to leave me alone. I can not care on lick what you have to say since all you do it belittle me

Way do you ask we tell you how to fix your tractor you don?t want to send the money on it I still want see a pictures of it

I'm on dial up and windows 10 so pictures take 30 minutes or more to load so I do not post pictures much if at all. As for the $$ things are very tight right now so doing my best to pinch penny's. As it is I am looking to have to replace one of the back tires on it due to a bad cut in the tire and I'm sure a 16.9X30 will not be cheap

wa, wa, wa. i just agreeing with the other posters , but you dont want to agree with them either.
