MD Rough Idle

High idle stop vibrated out of position. Did not realize until had operated at 1800-1900 RPM for 10 -15 minutes. Engine now idles terrible. Pops and misses inconsistently. Pulls as it should under load. High idle sounds much better than low idle. Mid idle is worst of all. Help.
 
I wouldn't think the RPM would have hurt anything. Does your engine have smoke coming out of the exhaust or breather that correlates with the missing and popping?

Just as a FYI, my SMD even after the rebuild and pumps and injectors has always idled the worst in the middle RPM range. Nature of the beast I guess.

A or B pump? (Scavenging pump to return leakage fuel vs. drain pipe on bottom of pump)? If the pump fills up with fuel they will idle and run terribly. If the drain pipe gets plugged on a B pump, as often happens, the pump will fill with fuel and not run right.
 
have found the pump housing with diesel in it. not the case here. thanks for your help. Any other ideas appreciated.

Thanks for the info. No smoke just disappointed about the idle because it purred like a kitten before this happened.
