Farmall 350 generator

Is the generator on a 350 farmall that’s gas and 12 volts grounded through the base? I just had it rebuilt and it’s still not charging I’ve tried polarizing it and grounding the field wire and still nothing. They painted it when was rebuilt so that’s the only other thing I can think of besides it being something that happened at the shop. Thank you!

Yes. The mount must be clean and shiny where the Gen mounts. If not there is no circuit. Jump from Bat to Arm (or GEN) on the voltage regulator to
Polarize the Gen. Jim

Thank you! I tried that but was still getting nothing but found out my voltage regulator was bad so I put a new one on and it’s good now thanks again!

Most voltage regulators are broken by internal FET or Darlington transistor breakdown, which causes the excitation current to run out of control and the output voltage of the gas generator will rise, and the battery will overcharge. Damage to the generator will reduce the output voltage and will not charge the battery.
