706 Widefront Steering Question

Have had an ongoing issue with the bolts coming loose that hold the pitman arm to the steering sector flange. Took it apart yesterday to replace the bolts and lock washers. The two rear bolts were accessible by turning the steering in each direction accordingly. The shorter front bolt apparantly had been hanging loose for some time. Was able to back the 4 front axle mounting bolts out about half way which provided just enough clearance to slide the pitman arm and third bolt out the rear. Threads in front hole are likely damaged by the looks of the bolt. I can start bolt by hand in rear holes but not in front. to chase the threads I would have to drop the front axle to have access. There are four threaded holes in the flange on the steering sector and only three in the pitman arm. Is it possible to rotate the pitman arm in relationship to the steering sector and make use of the fourth hole? Or are there stops inside the steering sector that limit degrees of rotation?

No you can't rotate the 'sector'. get a new bolt an 'chase' the threads.Use lock tite to help hold tight.Yes,you will have to drop the axle.

Thanks!. Should I use lockwashers or leave them out?

To get to the ft. blots ya need to drop the axle . DO NOT and again i said do not use lock washers , use a grade five bolt and make sure it is TIGHT and no you can not turn the flange or the sector plate . What you can do is chase the holes with a good sharp tap then clean the holes out with brake clean/ carb cleaner/ either and also clean the bolt threads the same way then add a little BLUE loctight NO REd , some day ya may need to take it apart .
