Bush hog for M

Farmall m. Got 3 point on it. Looking at 7ft howes bush hog. Think M can handle that size?. Be cutting tall grass/weeds. Was looking at a old 6ft bush hog brand mower also. Which mower better? Thanks.

Get the bigger 7ft. You can always take a slightly narrower swath if the brush is too big.A "big M" will handle it. :)

I ran a 6 ft Brillion pull type with a Super H, an M should be fine with a 7 ft. Picking it up may require front weight.

I've never heard anyone complain about a Bush Hog brand mower, built really beefy, but they make several models of each width. The Howes brand I always heard was more of a light duty economy cutter.

I'd compare thickness of steel used, welds, size of gearbox, PTO shaft, and most important, current condition.

Ive got a 7ft Bush Hog, and a 6ft off brand mower. (Dont recall the name, but it was given to me.) I pull the Hog in 3rd and can take a full cut most of the time, but Im particular about upkeep on this mower. Blades are sharpened at east every other year. The off brand I can run in 4th and do just as good of a job as the Hog. The off brand in lighter, so in the parts of my fields where I had to make more turns, I use this one, then when I get to more open areas I use the Hog. But I havent had to use either in several years since I rent out my property now.
