544 TA replacement

OK, so we split a 544 to replace the TA, seemed easy enough, whats the secret to get the output shaft mated up onto the roller bearing on the transmission shaft any and all help would be greatly appreciated

Put a rubber band around the brg

yup did that, the whole shaft seems to need to go up a bit to be centered and we just cant figure out how unless we pull the top cover, I would have hoped we did not need to do that

Put it in 4th gear

Did you compare the backgear bearing area to the original ta? Make sure the opening matches.
