H distributor update

Finally got time to tear into it found
distributor gear stripped also other drive
gear stripped seams the distributor locked
up can it be rebuilt or do I have to buy
new distributor thank you?

I think its a matter of disassembling it and assessing how bad the shaft and bronze plain bearings are, or if something else in the mechanical advance/flyweight section got thrown out and bound it up.

My experience is when you drive out the cross-pin and take off the 32T drive gear, that starts the release process. I would just hold the gear in a vise (since its stripped) and drive out the pin.

I believe its important to remove the points and possibly the mechanical advance section. These are all devices that attach with screws.

I would take many pictures as you go, and lay out the parts in an orderly manner on a bench. As usual with a precision mechanism, don't resort to force, its usually something that has been missed.

I broke the pin in the distributor on my SMTA by putting the wrong screw when changing points and condensor, one is a little longer so hung it up
