Stage 2 Super M Update

Hello all.

I want to thank everyone for their input on the post I made below.. I have decided to pull the trigger on the Super M I mentioned. I will be picking it up tomorrow. This does mean, however, that my '47 M will be up for sale after I transfer some things over to the Super M... Get the word out if anyone in the MN area is interested. For many of you who have followed my projects on YouTube, you know this would be a good tractor for a LONG time to come for someone.... Until then, here are some photos of the Super M I will be bringing home (I know some were in the previous post). I believe it to be a '53.. Stage 2 Louisville tractor. Runs great, but needs some idle circuit work (tends to hunt at idle).. Clutch needs to be looked at, and I will be installing a 12 volt alternator system on the tractor at some point (has 12 volt generator system now).

Ed, thanks for the kind remarks. I sent an e-mail your way.... I am definitely a little jealous of your collection. Wife says I have to sell the M if I want the Super... I would rather keep both!

I think you should keep the M and give it to your wife. Paint it pink(or what ever color she likes) and flowery.Matching 'his and hers tractors. Sooner or later she has to understand that tractor collecting is a sickness. One that makes you keep buying tractors.8 becomes 9,becomes 10........ you never have enough tractors. LOL My collection has grownto over 20. My wife just sighs with acceptance...... :)

Just kinda drag your feet in the process of switching stuff over and it will get forgotten. Then you can have both! Are those 15.5 firestones, the h might be wanting them! If you do sell maybe widefront the super?

Lol. I wish I could do that! The Firestones are 13.3-38's. I will be switching those out with the 15.5" Goodyears on my M, I think. I can't do a wide front - won't work with my loader. (Plus I can cram more narrow fronts into a building)!

I wish! I tried talking her into a "cute little Cub"... But she doesn't really have any interest in it. Maybe someday she will come around!

Kenny,You have to stop this "only 8 tractors" crap immediately! Don't let her dictate how many and what tractors you have.....You just got married,Start her training now! So unless tractors take away food money,or prevent paying the mortgage, keep em!LOLThink of this way.The tractors are an investment for the future, like money in the bank. And you can sell later if the need for cash arises.

My late Super M is a dandy. Would take a heck of a trade to pry it from my hands. Probably most used tractor. Plenty of power but quite nimble with the narrow front and PS. It needed some work here and there--trans pilot bearing, clutch yoke, disc. I dumped the 6 volt for a 12 alternator. Too much motor to reliably start with 6 volt.

I spent alot of time on buddy's early Super M so I just had to have my own. I'm a fan of the faster gears versus the straight M.

These days, however, I have acquired my 450 gas and diesel tractors. Superior in most ways to the Super M.

Thank you very much for the reply! I picked her up yesterday, had a couple hiccups, but made it home the 16 miles. Ran out very well, and I am impressed. Now if I can just convince HER to let me keep BOTH the M and SM... :-D
