Hello,
I just picked up a Sickle bar mower, from the research I've done it appears to be a Fast Hitch Sickle Bar Mower Model C 21. However I haven't been able to locate an owners manual or find any complete images of the mower. I'm not sure if it is all there as I picked it up on Craigslist as a barn find. I do believe it should have an axle clamp that's missing.
Any help locating an owners manual or clarification on the model would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have a photo of an IH fast hitch C-28 mower. We had an IH C-28 3pt version. It is still in the corner of my brother's shed.

I don't remember differences between C-21 and C-28 mowers.

Go to the discussion forums on this site. Go to implement alley. Go to page 3 and there is a 06-11-18 discussion about this very mower.

I have 2 just like yours I use and if you post a picture I can tell you if everything is there. I also have an owners manual and the parts book for it. Binder books is a good place to get an owners manual.

I am not familiar with a model C-28 fast hitch mower but do have part catalog information on the C-21P and C-24P fast hitch mowers. I'm sure there are other differences but the quick identification item is the cutter bar lifting springs are different. On a C-21 model it just has a single coil spring on the back while the C-24 has two coil springs, Hal.

The big difference is the location of the PTO shaft. On the 21 and 24 series mowers the PTO was directly above the pitman rod pivot and allowed for the high Farmall mounted PTOs. The 28 series had the PTO mounted down low and offset from the pitman shaft as shown in the photo of the Super C and the heavily angled PTO shaft. The 28 series were not meant for the Farmalls such as the Super C in the picture. The 28 series were meant for the 300 utility, 350 utility, 330 utility, 340 utility, 460 utility, 504 utility, 606 utility, B275, B414,etc tractors. Their low mounted PTO was angled just right in the operating position height wise. The 28 series for sure were available in both Fast Hitch and 3 point hitch versions. We once owned a C28 Fast Hitch mounted on a 330 tractor and I still own a C28 mounted 3 point hitch setup.
